Opening Day is getting ready to kick off shortly as we deal with "the plague of the sludge"...this is when all of the dead leaves from the winter gather together in the middle of the pool cover to formulate what we affectionately call "death soup".....
Unseasonable chilly temperatures have hit the area along with some needed rain.
We pulled the cover off Sunday June 7th and successfully disposed of the wretched plastic tarp which had three holes.
Bubba and Chucky immediately went to work jumping into the murky pool on June 8th to record the first reading of the season!
We have not had many swim days in June due to the unseasonably cool weather.
We have had only a hand full swim days in July
August swimming was much better but well off the number of normal swim days
There were no swim days in September which was a first as far as I can recall....
We finally put a lid on the pool on October 6th. The water had turned a disgusting pea green color but after we bombed it with four bags of shock and some Alkaline, it looked cryptal clear again! It was a very disappointing swimming season but we made the best of it when we could...
Lastly, Chucky announced his retirement after 10 years of service to the pool with this last year being very difficult for him. We will now be taking resume's for pool monitor and temperature control technician (TCT). If you want to keep in touch with Chucky he can be reached at campy31@comcast.net. Bubba will retain his position as chief chlorine distributor (CCD).
